Doula Care

Birth is inherently powerful, personal and worth of deep respect.

Why Choose a Doula?

Having a doula by your side can make a world of difference in how you feel during your pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum journey. Research shows that doula support can lead to:

  • Less need for pain medication

  • Fewer medical interventions

  • Lower chances of induction or cesarean birth

  • Shorter labor times

  • More successful VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) experiences

  • Greater satisfaction with your birth experience

  • Lower risk of postpartum depression

  • Higher rates of breastfeeding success

What Does a Doula Do?

Birth is not a problem to be managed, but an experience to be held. My role as your doula isn't to "direct" birth or sell a "perfect" outcome, but to protect your agency, so you feel informed, grounded, and supported no matter how your birth unfolds.

Autonomy over Authority.

I prioritize informed choices and bodily sovereignty. I am not anti medicine or anti hospital, but I am anti coercion and anti fear.

Presence over Performance.

I value calm, attuned support more than rigid birth plans or fast-paced protocols. Being steady, intuitive, and emotionally available matters as much as any tool.

Whole person care.

Birth isn't just physical. It's emotional, physiological, relational, and often spiritual. I hold space for all of that without imposing my agenda or judgement.

Trauma aware. Not fear based.

I recognize how past experiences, systems and cultural narratives shape birth, and I aim to reduce harm by providing options along your journey rather than promise control.

I am a birth doula that does not promise to deliver outcomes, but a doula that walks alongside you, educating, informing and sharing care with you during this threshold moment. Helping you claim radical ownership over your birth.

**A Sample Journey With Your Doula**

Consultation: We begin with a free consultation to connect, learn about your hopes for birth, and see if we’re the right fit.

Prenatal Visits: Three to four sessions focused on education, preparation, and embodiment; covering birth physiology, comfort measures, partner support, and postpartum planning.

On-Call Support: From 37 weeks until birth, I’m available 24/7 for questions, reassurance, and guidance.

Labor & Birth: Continuous in-person support through labor, birth, and the first moments after. I offer hands-on comfort, advocacy, and grounding for both you and your partner.

Postpartum Care: I stay about 2 hours after your birth to help clean up and make sure everything feels settled and baby and mama are ready for a rest. One to two visits for emotional debrief, somatic grounding, and gentle recovery support. Along with feeding guidance, nourishment, and resources as you adjust.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Closing of the Bones Ceremony: a 2-3 hour ceremony that includes an herbal bath, gentle rebozo and massage work to invite the body to close after 9 months of expansion and the opening of birth.

  • Herbal postpartum care & bodywork integration: Teas, herbal compresses, and steams that allow your body the minerals it needs to support healing. Gentle massage and pressure points that invite release in the body.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As a doula, I don't practice Western medicine. I don't diagnose or make clinical decisions for you. I am here to bridge the gap between the sacred and the practical, reminding you that birth is not just a medical event, but a deeply human and ceremonial experience.

F.A.Q.'s

1. Why did you become a doula? A natural fusion of my own birth stories and a background in anatomy and physiology led me here. I hold deep reverence for the birth process—it’s powerful, transformative, and deserves to be better understood and supported.

2. What is your philosophy around birth? I combine evidence-based practices with holistic care for the body, mind, and spirit. You are the author of your birth story—I’m here to offer grounded information, options, and support so you can make empowered decisions.

3. What kind of training and experience do you have? I bring nearly a decade of somatic bodywork and over 20 years of teaching movement through dance. I’ve completed Kindred Birth Collective’s Advanced Doula Training, hold certifications in Functional Range Conditioning and CPR, and am currently training with Body Ready Method. I’ve supported several families and continue expanding my experience.

Questions you may have for me.

4. What if I choose an epidural or need a cesarean? Will you still support me? Absolutely. This is a judgment-free space. Your birth plan may shift, and I will continue supporting you with education and presence through all outcomes—unmedicated, medicated, or surgical.

5. How do you support partners during labor? Partners are vital. I guide them through hands-on techniques, education, and emotional presence, helping them feel grounded and confident so they can fully support your birthing process.

6. What techniques do you use during labor? I use movement-based prep, breathwork, and nervous system-informed care. We focus on mobility through the spine, hips, and shoulders to support your body’s physiology and help labor flow more freely.

7. What does your care include before, during, and after birth? After a free 30-minute consultation, we begin with prenatal sessions (birth education, planning, and physical prep), full birth attendance, and two postpartum visits within 4 weeks. I’m also available via phone, text, or Zoom before and after birth.

8. When do you join us in labor, and where? We’ll make a personalized plan. I may join you at home in early labor or meet at your birthing location. I adapt to your needs—whether it's home labor, induction, or cesarean prep.

9. Do you have a backup doula? Yes. I always arrange a trusted backup doula in case I can’t attend. You’ll have the option to meet them via Zoom or in person so you feel confident and supported either way.

10. How do payment, insurance, and refunds work? A retainer of the first months payment secures your spot. Payments are usually completed by your birth month. I offer monthly payment plans and accept insurance when covered. Full details are outlined in my refund policy and pricing page.
